IECafé Foundation
Spain was in need of a highly trained organization in the coffee field, at that time any association in the country had been concerned with the educational aspect or with the proper promotion of the coffee culture. Due to these circumstances, Mare Terra founded the Spanish Coffee Institute (IECafé) in 2008, which became the IECafé Foundation in 2016. Their main objective is to train all the members of the coffee chain, from the producer to the roaster and the Barista until reaching the final consumer.
SCA – Specialty Coffee Association
In 2007, Rafael Moral, Director and Owner of Mare Terra, founded the SCAE (Specialty Coffee Association of Europe) Spanish Chapter. In 2011 as a reward of his exceptional work in his territory, was declared the best SCAE coordinator.
In January 2017, the Specialty Coffee Association of Europe (SCAE) and the Specialty Coffee Association of America (SCAA) were unified into a single entity - the Specialty Coffee Association (SCA).
Nowadays, SCA Spain is recognized as a driving force for specialty coffees and education, strongly advocating the cause of high quality coffees and working to maintain a network of professionals and enthusiasts informed in favor of the development of specialty coffees.
Daterra Coffee
The collaboration with Daterra Coffee began almost from the beginning of Mare Terra, both companies shared the same vision regarding quality and sustainability in the coffee world. Technology, research and attention to the ecosystem during the coffee production chain have made Daterra being recognized as one of the best coffee producers in the world. Daterra also received the most sustainable farm award in Brazil in 2015. Daterra was the first to obtain the Rainforest Alliance and ISO 14001 certification in Brazil.

Mare Terra is the official Representative and Distributor of Giesen Coffee Roasters in Spain - High Quality Roaster Manufacturer recognized by its excellence. Giesen is focus on the manufacture of handmade roasters with high quality materials, customized and tailored made for the customer. It has a state-of-the-art technical service and technology. Giesen is also the official sponsor of the SCA World Roasting Championships. This level of demand and quality makes Giesen one of the most recognized brands in the world of coffee roasting.
Alliance for Coffee Excellence
Cup of Excellence is one of the most prestigious awards given to the best coffees in producing countries. These prizes come from a strict competition that selects the best coffee produced in that country for that particular year. A select group of national and international cup tasters choose these winning coffees, which are cupped at least five different times during the competition process. Only coffees that continuously receive a high enough score can move on to other stages of the competition. The final winners receive the prestigious Cup of Excellence® award and are sold to the highest bidder during an internet auction. Mare Terra actively participates in this auction every year, thus supporting the recognition and appreciation of the best coffees at the farm level.
