Guatemala is a land of volcanoes, covered with tropical forests, a country known for cultivating excellent quality Arabica coffee and providing around 3.5 million bags per year. But there is a fact unknown to most people, which is that the Robusta variety is also cultivated here.
In fact, the cultivation of Robusta accounts for 40% of the World's coffee production, but is mainly associated with a cheap commercial product. Our question is: Can Robusta be smooth, clean and exceptional? And in Guatemala, we found the answer... Of course, yes!
Guatemala is a special place under special conditions, this is where our unique Robusta Special project was born.
This project started last year and being continued this year, in the oldest coffee producing region of the Country, San Marcos, Western Guatemala. At an altitude of 1000 meters.
Finca Panorama, very close to the mexican border, is runned by the Coto family: Samuel and Satuardo. We highlight their good work, giving extreme importance to the training of their workers and also the improvement of the conditions of their community.
Without a doubt, this is the ideal place to carry out the tests and experiments that our R&D department has planned.
Last year we had the chance to work with Finca Panorama, where micro-experiments were carried out and the results we tested were very interesting. This sparked our attention to continue working together and improving the project.
This year we have decided to make some adjustments and prepare 4 special batches.
