There is nothing better than packing a suitcase to get away from the city, especially on Saturday at the end of July.

This is exactly what our coffee hunter Timur Dudkin is doing right now. On Monday he will be off to Colombia to launch a new chapter of “Young Farmers of Huila” project. The expectations are high, the excitement is strong and the adventures are on their way!

June 23rd in Huila, Garson.

Timur is going to conduct a course about sensory analysis for 18 participants: farmers, cuppers and agronomists of Coocentral cooperative. The main goal of the course is to teach how to analyze coffee flavours, how to evaluate the pros and cons of coffee lots, how to differentiate specialty coffee characteristics. Despite the fact that farmers and agronomists work with coffee every day, for many of them it is going to be the first immersion into the wide world of flavours and aromas. Participants will cup coffee lots from Ethiopia, Kenya, Rwanda, El Salvador, Guatemala and Nicaragua. Such an unforgettable experience!

June 24th in Huila, Garson.

This day is all about the experimental course and it will be the begining of a huge and important research about natural coffee processing. Lucitania de Garzón farm will host 13 farmers and 13 agronomists from 9 municipalities of Huila: Tarqui, San Antonio, Quituro, Garzón, Guadalupe, Gigante, Agrado, Zuluaga y Suaza. In the morning participants will discuss fermentation theory, processing and drying techniques, data collection and analysis methods. In the afternoon participants will conduct 5 different processing techniques.

After the course farmers will have some homework to do. Firstly, they will have to implement these 5 processing techniques at their farms. Secondly, they will have to collect data about their experiments.

13 pairs of agronomists-farmers and 5 processing techniques means that we will have 65 coffee lots! We are all looking forward to getting the first results, new coffee, new knoweledge, emotions, and of course photos!

P.D. Timur promises to bring these lots to Encuentros Cafeteros!
